It's illegal to feed the homeless in America!

In  FL a organization known as food not bombs have been trying to feed the homeless and every time they have been arrested. On June 8th -"Members of Orlando Food Not Bombs were arrested Wednesday when police said they violated a city ordinance by feeding the homeless in Lake Eola Park." Here is the article that goes into more detail. Florida Activists Arrested For Feeding Homeless, Facing A Penalty Of 60 Days In Jail, A $500 Fine Or Both

On July 6th the same organization tries again except this time 30 people were arrested!

This isn't the only issue America faces. There have been stories of people being arrested for having front lawn gardens. The most recent story is of a woman who may face 93 days in jail for her garden. Here is the story:  Oak Park vattles city over vegetable garden in their front yard!

Here's a video showing the garden:

How can I stop these things from happening?

First spread the word about these invents to family and friends.

Secondly contact your local senator and state rep. Let them know you don't agree with these actions and find out what they are doing to prevent this from happening in your state.

Lastly- I believe more organizations like Food Not Bombs need to hold a state wide event of feeding the homeless. Organizations like Feeding America and Salvation Army should be pushed via the public to get behind such an event. One of the reasons why people are getting arrested is due to the Enhanced Food and Safety act.

A recent law known as  S. 216, the Food Safety Accountability Act, sponsored by Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., would allow federal prosecutors to seek sentences of up to 10 years behind bars for individuals or entities that knowingly contaminate the food supply with the intent to mislead, defraud or endanger consumers.

Although the people who were arrested did not contaminate food, they were probably arrested for that reason or to prevent such a reason from happening.
